This three week intensive Yoga Teacher Training in Spain is a fully comprehensive, profoundly life transforming experience.

We work with small groups up to a max of 16 people. Therefore we can give personal attention to all our trainees. Each trainee has a personal mentor to guide them on their inward journey.
There will be private sessions with your mentor weekly and whenever you feel you would like to have a talk. You can discuss any questions or doubts with your personal mentor.

This was my first TTC, and I must say I loved every minute of it.. the teachers were great, each with her own style. We have carefully selected a few stunning Andalusian fincas for our retreats, courses and for our yoga teacher training.
For the TTC 200 hour we work with two charming locations.
In June and September we will stay at the beautiful 200 year old Cortijo Las Monjas.
In April and October we will stay at the wonderful little hamlet of Cañuelo.
Both places have a lot of charm and are very peaceful and magical locations for your yoga journey.
The two locations have breathtaking views over the mountains, lake and ocean. Are you a hiking fan? From both fincas you can do several magnificent hikes.

Stay in a beautiful little hamlet with beautiful lake & ocean views
Small white washed casas and casitas in a mountain hamlet, with a rustic on-site bar and pool, surrounded by birds, bougainvillea and breathtaking views.
It’s a steep climb through olive groves to reach the hamlet of El Cañuelo. Perched high in the mountains, with clear views to the 25 km-distant Med, it’s a wonderfully place, and the nice holiday homes with their terraces merge charmingly into the traditional village; Rafael the goatherd’s house is opposite.
The cute houses are not very luxurious, but El Cañuelo is as authentically Andaluz as it gets. It has a lot of charm.
Step outside and you’re in a bird-sung world of bougainvillea and sunshine: take to the village trail, explore the nearby markets or drink in the spectacular views.
There is a bar in El Cañuelo that we can use during our stay. The bar has spacious outdoor terracing with spectacular views. Indoors there is space for several tables and there are two fireplaces for winter use.
The swimming pool, called locally the ‘Mickey Mouse’ because of its shape, is 7 x 7 metres with the two small ‘ears’ one with a depth of 90cms and the other about 15cm. The main pool is 2m at its deepest point. The Bar and location has WIFI.
The Yoga Shala
There is a beautiful, recently refurnished, spacious Yoga Shala. It has big windows with a lot of light coming in to the room.
Furthermore there are several platforms/ terraces where we can do the yoga outside if the weather permits it.
LOCATION IN JUNE AND SEPTEMBER: CORTIJO LAS MONJAS
We would love to welcome you in ‘Cortijo Las Monjas’, This old cortijo (farm estate) is situated between Periana and Alfarnatejo in the north-east of Málaga Province. The cortijo is about 600 meters above sea level.
Enjoying outstanding views over the mountains and valley below, this lovingly restored country estate is the ideal place for a yoga teacher training course.
Cortijo Las Monjas is a farmhouse. The Farm and the outbuildings are over three hundred years old.
The cortijo has been completely and sympathetically restored and divided up into really nice rooms and studios for two people to share with a bedroom with two twin beds, a bathroom and most have a terrace or porch. Furthermore they have just renovated and created 2 additional spacious ensuite twin rooms.
The cortijo has a really nice big pool that is open all year around.
There is a beautiful garden with amazing views where will do part of our yoga sessions. The other sessions we will do in the beautiful recently built yoga shala of 100m2. The former stall has been transformed in this really amazing sacred yoga room with floor heating and high ceiling.
Enjoy the beautiful countryside with its extraordinary beauty, and mild climate. Relax in the peaceful atmosphere, where you will be welcomed as one of the family.

For a lot of people a Yoga Teacher Training becomes a highlight in their life and an important turning point. Very often it is the beginning of a new life adventure. Immerse yourself in yoga study, find your path, and make friends for life.
a DAY at the COURSE
Sunrise yoga and meditation
You will wake up with a cup of tea and some fruit and enjoy the beautiful view over the mountains.
We will start the day with a morning meditation.
Afterwards we continue with an energetic vinyasa practice.
Hit the books 10 AM – Following breakfast, we dig deep into the training, learning about yoga philosophy, Ayurveda, anatomy, physiology and more.
Teaching & practicing 2 PM – After the lunch we will focus more on the practical teaching itself. You will get sessions on various yoga styles, how to teach and on alignment. You will practice teaching in small groups.
We will discuss the basics of teaching – learning about various poses, the muscles they open, breath work, and how to help students in and out of the pose. During the afternoon sessions we will as well focus on the business aspect of yoga. With help of our teachers you will create a plan for your yoga career.
Afternoon relaxing practice 5:30 PM – We wind down our day with a relaxed yoga practice, stretching into delicious Yin and Restorative poses.
Evening meditation / workshop or movie night 8 PM – After dinner it’s time to relax and find your center with our daily meditation practice or a special workshop. Some nights we will have a movie night and show a nice documentary.

We will introduce you to the history of yoga, you will learn more about some of the great yoga masters, we will dive into the philosophy and aim of yoga and we will briefly discuss the sutras of Patanjali and the Bhagavad Gita. We will introduce you to the chakras, the human energy field and the five koshas. We will discuss the four paths of yoga and the eight limbs of yoga. We will talk about karma and reincarnation, the gunas, the power of mantras and kirtans.
Ayurveda & Yogic Lifestyle
You will be introduced to the science of Ayurveda and you will receive a solid foundation on the pillars of Ayurveda and how this s connected to yoga.
You can see Ayurveda and yoga as two inseparable sisters. Ayurveda, which means “science of life” in Sanskrit, is based on the premise that everything in the universe, including the human body, is comprised of five basic elements: earth, wind, fire, water and space.
Each of these elements is present in our bodies in various proportions in what are called doshas. Keeping those doshas balanced through diet, yoga, herbs, massage and meditation is the basis of Ayurveda.
You will learn more about doshas and Ayurveda en general.You will understand how the three doshas are formed.
Through this understanding you will discover your own natural born constitution and your current imbalance this will help your to bring more balance into your life.

We will explore the physical body in a very practical way, so you can apply it in your own practice and teachings. We utilize engaging, visual and active learning.

During the teacher course we will discuss the different styles of yoga and the difference between the more yang style of yoga and yin yoga. You will learn how to teach Hatha yoga, Vinyasa (flow) yoga and Yin yoga. And you will be introduced to some other forms of yoga like kundalini, kids yoga, prenatal yoga and senior yoga.
The combination of yang styles of yoga with yin yoga gives you a solid and comprehensive foundation for yourself and for you teaching career. Those styles go hand in hand, as it is recommended to combine yang with yin yoga.
Yin yoga is the perfect compliment to the more yang style of yoga practice. In yang styles of yoga the asanas are focused of the main muscles.
Yin yoga offers deeper access to the body targeting our connective tissues, fascia and ligaments with the aim of lubricating and protecting our joints.
Yang Yoga Hatha Yoga
Hatha Yoga – based on the tradition of Swami Sivananda
You learn how to teach the main basic Hatha yoga poses for teaching beginner and intermediate classes, analysis of the poses and their functions, alternatives for injuries and adjustments. You will learn the structure and basic components of a hatha yoga class.
Yang Yoga Vinyasa
Vinyasa is a style of yoga characterized by stringing postures together so that you move from one to another, seamlessly, using breath. Vinyasa, is a breath initiated practice, that connects every action of our life with the intention of moving towards what is sacred, or most important to us. We will talk about the the background of Vinyasa and the various forms of Vinyasa like Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow Yoga, Power Yoga, Bikram Yoga and Hot Yoga.
We will focus on general Vinyasa Yoga during the training. You will learn how to prepare and sequence the poses in a flow to create a Vinyasa class.
Yang Yoga Sun Greetings & Warming Up
You will learn different versions of the Sun Salutations. The classic Sun Salutation used in Hatha Yoga and variations used in (Ashtanga) Vinyasa. We will practice various warming up / preparatory exercises.
Our course combines the Yin & Yang styles of yoga. Yin yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga with asanas that are held for longer periods of time. Yin yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body—the tendons, fascia, and ligaments—with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility.
Yin yoga is a more meditative approach to yoga, yin aims at cultivating awareness of inner silence, and bringing to light a universal, interconnecting quality. We will discuss the background of Yin Yoga, talk about the meridians, the organs and the concept of Qi (energy).
You will learn how to do and teach the main yin postures, do an analysis of the poses, their modifications and alternatives.
Introducing other styles of yoga and Qigong
During the course we will offer you various workshops on other styles of yoga. For example Kundalini yoga, Kids yoga, Prenatal yoga, Restorative yoga and Senior yoga. Furthermore you will be introduced to the art of QiGong.
We provide this additional workshops in order to inspire you and to show you the variety within yoga. Furthermore we will discuss how you can integrate other styles of yoga and QiGong within your classes.
You will practice daily yoga, pranayama, kriyas and meditation, as your own practice is your foundation. What you practice, you will understand and you will be able to teach to others. We will have daily yin and yang yoga sessions.
Kriyas & Ayurvedic Cleansing Rituals
You will be introduced to some of the basic yet powerful kriya techniques (such as nauli), and incorporate them into your daily practice routine.
You will learn the main yoga cleansing techniques. We will practice some of this kriyas and discuss the use. The purpose of those kriyas is to assist nature in removing waste products. Furthermore we will introduce you in the self cleansing and self nourishing rituals of Ayurveda.
Breathwork, Pranayama and Bhandas.
One of most important part of us, is our breath. You will learn how to optimize your breath and how to teach this to others. You learn how to observe your breath and to regulate / control your breath. Breathwork, breath awareness and pranayamas, will be presented and practiced within the course from the very beginning.
We will practice preparations for pranayama, together with some of the most classical techniques (such as Kapalabhati and Nadi Shodhana) will be covered. You will build a personal practice of pranayama to incorporate into your daily practice. At the end of the program you will have integrated these practices and, thus, will be able to incorporate pranayama into your teaching, as well.
You will learn various breathwork and pranayama techniques that will be very helpful in your life and in the lives of the people that you will teach to in the future. If you learn to change and control your breath you will be able to handle difficult situations and stress a lot better.
Furthermore you will learn how to connect to your inner wisdom via your breath.
Meditations, Relaxation & Mindfulness
We will discuss what meditation is and why you should meditate.
We explain how you can start and help others to meditate. We will discuss how to overcome obstacles while meditating. Furthermore we will guide you how you can develop and teach different meditations and relaxations: body scan, mantra, visualization, breath, senses, focus point, Japa meditation, etc. Furthermore we will go into the subject of mindfulness and how to apply mindfulness on your mat and off the mat.[/read]
Mudras are the hand gestures used during meditation. They carry specific goals of channeling your body’s energy flow. There are more than 100 known mudras that have been developed over the centuries. You will learn some of the most commonly used mudras that have been used for centuries for their efficiency in providing health and empowerment.
Chanting – Kirtan & Mantras
You will be introduced to kirtan and chanting mantras. You will learn to sing some beautiful mantras and you will learn what they mean and how to apply them. We will talk about how to use the power of mantras and its vibration to focus your mind and remove impurities. How to channel energy and how to purify negative energy using mantras.
Yoga Nidra— yogic sleep—is a meditation and conscious relaxation practice that is intended to induce total physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. This state is reached by separating the external awareness of the physical body through various stages. It results in a state where you are asleep with a trace of awareness. It’s a beautiful practice, gaining popularity across the world and ongoing research continues to prove its effectiveness.
The benefits of Yoga Nidra are numerous. It helps people to reduce stress, improve creativity, create focus, gives a deep rest in few minutes, similar to rest after overnight sleep. And people experience rejuvenation at physical and mental level. You will learn how to give Yoga Nidra and how to create your own script.
The Sanskrit word Chakra literally translates to wheel or disk. In yoga, meditation and Ayurveda, this term refers to wheels of energy throughout the body. There are seven main chakras, which align the spine, starting from the base of the spine through to the crown of the head.
Since everything is moving, it’s essential that our seven main chakras stay open, aligned, and fluid. If there is a blockage, energy cannot flow. During the course you will learn more about the 7 main chakras. We will discuss how you can bring in chakras to your class, via meditation, asanas, specific breathing exercises and chakra massage.
Yoga & Business and Social Media
Some people do the course for themselves, to deepen their practice. But a lot of people who participate in a Yoga Teacher Training Course do this because they would like to start teaching or to use the knowledge in their current job.
A lot of the Yoga Teacher Trainings only have a short class on the business aspect of yoga. But in our opinion this is very important. Most yoga teachers are struggling to make a living and need to have other jobs on the side to be able to have enough income to pay their bills. Even very skilled and passionate yoga teachers find it hard to make a living. The issue is that they lack experience in PR & marketing and that they don’t have the right business model.
We have over 20 years experience in marketing, media, communications and setting up businesses. We will help you and share our insights and tips with you during this course. We will have several classes on this topic and you will go home with useful knowledge on how to start your yoga career and how to market yourself. Furthermore we will discuss the various possibilities of using social media, blogs and video to promote yourself.

ABOUT THE TEACHERS
Ilse-Marie Sobering – Yoga and Meditation Teacher 500RYT
Together with Jeroen Ruijters the Founders of Viva La Vida and an experienced E-200RYT + 500RYT Yoga Teacher.
Ilse-Marie did several teacher trainings. The advanced 300 hour course she did in an Ashram in India. She is skilled in various yoga styles and over the years has created her own style by mixing various styles of yoga. She is teaching yoga, meditation and coaching courses in three languages to beginners, advanced students, seniors and children. Jane Bakx, Yoga and Meditation Teacher 500RYT
Jane is an E-200RYT + 500RYT yoga teacher (Yoga Alliance certified) from the Netherlands. She lived in Amsterdam for most of her life and worked as a producer in advertising. She practised yoga for over 15 years and has been teaching for a few years. After her two yoga teacher training courses (both in India), she decided to leave her job in advertising and follow her heart and passion for yoga full time. Since then, she has been teaching and traveling around the world and also organizes retreats. She mainly practices Vinyasa and Yin yoga herself and sometimes also Ashtanga.
To Jane yoga is all about making a connection with yourself; with your body, mind and heart. Through yoga you learn to listen more to your body. The focus in Jane’s classes is mainly on making that connection to yourself and at the same time getting more flexible and strong.

You can book the shared transfer with us for 30 euros per ride. We are situated around an hour from the airport of Malaga.
The shared transfer will leave the airport/ city on the starting day around 12:00.12:30 PM. If you arrive after this time we can arrange you a private transfer. Costs will be around 70 euros for a private transfer.
Checking in is possible from 12:30. We will start with a lunch and introduction ceremony.
The check out on the last day is around 12:30. The transfer leaves around 13:00 back to the airport and/or Malga city.
You can buy a cheap flight via Transavia, Ryanair, Easyjet, Vueling. Best to book two single tickets.
Our training is not only for those who want to become a teacher, but for everyone who wants to develop further.
It is suitable for everyone who wants to dedicate themselves to deepening his or her yoga path and the personal development that comes with it.
It is certainly not necessary that you can bend like an elastic or meditate for hours long.
Are you willing to dive into the depth, to transform and to open yourself up for life? These are the most important things to participate in our program.
It is desirable that you have attended yoga classes for some time (at least a year).
You need to be in good health both physically and mentally. Injuries can be accommodated.

How to Qualify
You are required to attend all sessions (unless ill) and participate in all exercises. We ask you to be on time. There will be on-going quizzes throughout the training on the material covered.
You will be required to teach a 75 minute Hatha & Yin class by the end of the training, but don’t worry, you will be well prepared to do that when the time comes.

After our course you will feel confident to teach a class of Hatha yoga, You know how to create Vinyasa class and you will be able to teach Yin yoga.

Our course is very practical and you will start teaching one to one from the first day that you start, This will help you to gain confidence.
Small groups & Personal Attention
You will find a lot of teacher training centers that have courses in huge groups ( 30-50 people in one group).
We have chosen to work with small groups (16 max.). This creates a nice and intimate setting, were people can feel save and can share their experiences openly.
Working with small groups gives us the opportunity to give you enough attention and personal feedback.
All students will have a personal coach (one of the main teachers) that will help you on your personal journey.
Help with marketing yourself
An important part of our program is to help you to gain confidence and to help you with creating a plan on how to market yourself after the course. We have a lot of experience in communication, PR, marketing, building websites and social media. We will help you with tips and ideas on how to set up your yoga business or how to start your yoga career.

Who created Viva La Vida? We are a Dutch family who decided 5 years ago, to go on an adventure in the beautiful Andalusia. We first planned to go for a year, but we enjoyed it so much that we decided to stay here for a longer period.
We, Jeroen and Ilse-Marie, and our two daughters Elise-Sophie and Ana Rosa, have found a pretty old cortijo in an incredibly beautiful area.
We are very enthusiastic about the area and like to share it with other people. We organize yoga retreats, courses and yoga & walking holidays all year round at the most beautiful places in Andalusia. We really enjoy to create a special program for you.
